Ray’s Salon + Spa {Ray Turns Five}

And just like that, Ray is FIVE.

This party just felt a little different, in the best way possible. It was the first party for Ray that embodied who she was. She has been obsessed with make up for over a year, so I wanted to take a stab at the Spa theme. Obviously, I started with a mood board. I wanted to mix in some bright colors like chartreuse, blue and hot pink.

Take a look back at Ray’s past parties | One | Two | Three | Four

I held the party at home as per usual, in my kitchen. This makes set up and break down much easier! I had three main sections of the party to create an entire scene.

The Favor Bar

This was at the top of my list and the first thing I sketched. I wanted to have walls of goodies and caboodles to put it all in! Honestly, this changed quite a bit over the course of planning but I love how it turned out. I staged the half wall in our kitchen and adhered the shelving right to the wall. I wanted the center of attention to be the quote “You’re like really pretty.” I created the font and Modern Birch co brought it to life in acrylic. On the right side were all the caboodles. Itsy Bitsy Parties created the CUTEST stickers to customize them for each girl. They were, of course, finished with a black and white initial tag by Chalk Designs By Me. I love the addition of black and white and a big pink ribbon.

On the left side were alllllll the things. Each self was a different spa service. First up, the Nail Bar, including a rainbow of polish, nail files and nail stickers. Then Facials where we had make up towels and face masks below. Next was the Hair Salon where each girl chose a new hair brush and scrunchy of their choice. and last was Glam with lip gloss and temporary tattoos. I bought everything at Target!

In the center of the build I had a small vanity with mirrors, butterfly clips and powder puffs. The best part, the rolling rack of linen robes. Madly Wish made my dreams come true by making these tiny waffle linen robes for each girl. Each of them were embroidered with the girls names in my custom font and finished with a sleep mask. They made the perfect “uniform” for the party and the most EPIC take home favor.

The Cake Table

I really loved the placement of the bar for Brennan’s third birthday so I decided to use the dresser again and make it the cake table. Yet again, this was one of my favorite spots. I thought it would be really cool to have a bunch of hair dryers hanging from the ceiling. A trip to goodwill and lots of pink spray paint and the results were amazing. I love the iconic shape of the hairdryer and it filled the wall perfectly.

I used my green dresser as the table but covered it in a pink velvet linen. On top I filled the table to the brim with sweets! The cake was the star of the show. Hand painted by The Sugar Bug to match Daydream Society’s newest party ware, (its the bunny slippers for me). Tied with a gorgeous pink ribbon and topped with multi colored candles.

The rest of the table was layered with cake stands to house all the sweet treats. We had the most gorgeous hand painted cookies by Tracy of the Sugar Bug. She captured every detail from the party on a cookie. Too beautiful to eat.

Soiree Macarons DID NOT PLAY with her macarons and meringues. I had one idea for her and that was a macaron in a compact to look like a powder puff. She executed it just perfectly covering the top with coconut and finishing it with a pink bow. She also made mini cucumber macarons and sparkly pink lips.

The cake table had some other fun items like a giant custom pompom from Sia and Capri, a canister of cotton balls, and the coolest vase filled with florals (which I arranged my self). I used the Daydream Society printed and Nail Polish napkins here as well, it was such a fun touch. Next to the cake table Alpha Lit North Bay brought over a giant marquee 5. It was so cool and extra special for her 5th birthday!

The Food

The sweets were obviously covered but I wanted to serve a light brunch like menu for the girls and their moms! For the girls I did cucumber cream cheese sandwiches as well ad PB + J’s. I also did chocolate and regular croissants and cinnamon rolls. The party was at 11 am so I could really get away with anything. For the adults I took a page from Aint to Proud to Meg and created this amazing Burrata board with peaches and prosciutto. (shout out to Teta Karen for making ALL of this for me the morning of the party). We also put together the cutest tomato toasts. I was inspired by Darcy Miller. I used goat cheese, chives, basil and a cherry tomato to resemble a cherry. They were so CUTE.

I served Cucumber infused water, pink lemonade and mimosas of course.

The Balloons

Behind the table, Lifted Balloons made some MAGIC with eight giant, hand painted balloons. Yes, you heard that, hand painted. Each balloon was a different pastel color and had soap bubbles and sparkle hand painted on them. She created gorgeous ribbon tassels using liberty of London print, tissue, velvets and polkadots. The balloon weights were even covered in terrycloth. All of Nicoles hand made creations were adorned with a Charmloon.

Designed by Lilly of The Creative Heart Studio- this brand new creation was TOO perfect. Each charm was the girls names which made them extra special, they acted as a place marker at the table and made for another amazing take home. I loved the whimsy that was created between Nicole and Lilly, and what an honor to show them off at Ray’s party.

The Table

Dare I say this is my favorite table to date? I used our kitchen table and decided to rent a velvet linen and 8 white chairs. It made such a huge difference in the overall look of the table. Every single setting was a little bit different. I used some solids, stripes and prints and mixed through each setting. The larger paper plates were topped with an iridescent plate that looked like a mirror. The new Daydream pattern added so much magic to the table and pulled in all the spa things. Each plate was topped with a giant powder puff and a custom lollipop by The Sweet Story Line. I loved the chartreuse and pink pop the lolli added to the setting and the kids went nuts for them.

The napkins were one of the first things I designed with Suburban Soiree. We did a dinner napkin in blue that read “lipstick lasts longer, but gloss is more fun” (one of my favorite Gossip Girl quotes). The cocktail napkin was a silver kiss mark that I drew. I am obsessed with the combination and LOVE the layered look on the table. Each setting got also had a tiny lip plate to the left with heart shaped meringues that looked like cherries. I CANNOT WITH THIS DETAIL.

The activity was actually party of the table setting. I custom made coasters with a blank face and each girl got a coordinating sticker sheet. They girls could use the stickers to do her make up. It was such a unique idea and something fun to keep the girls busy at the table. I used my favorite melamine cups and added the most perfect stir sticks from Acrylicsticks. I use their rainbow set of nail polish shirt sticks and color blocked them with the cups. I love the pop of color it added to the table.

A few months ago I decided to add a pop of black and white polka dot, so this paper runner from Ellie and Piper co was a perfect addition. Down the center I used small cake stands for food and treats and added gorgeous vases with florals.

The Outfits

I have had the girls outfits planned for a long time. I found terrycloth dresses and rompers from J Crew and thought it went with the theme perfectly. They each added fun bows in florals and polka dots. Of course the addition of the Robe made them look more adorable than ever.

My skirt was the reason I added polka dots to the party. I fell in love with it and had to wear it for this event.

The Custom Additions

Let me tell you, I have som very talented friends. Throughout the party there is always confetti and garlands, by theses were extra special. Studio pep created a gorgeous confetti mix that captured the essence of the party perfectly. It just added a little more magic everywhere.

I worked closely with Lauren Glass to design confetti charms to be scattered around the table as well. Gilded cucumbers, pearl polka dot mirrors and embellished lipsticks. They were so beyond perfect and made a grand appearance in the flatlay.

It isn’t a party without Pearl and Jane and although I own almost every single color, Amy created a beautiful ombre garland with all of Ray’s colors. It hung perfectly on the vanity layered with pink lips. I added silver stars and a lavender mini garland to the cake table.

Y’ALL. These are the elements that make a party and add the magic. I mean, come on.

The Flatlay + The Flowers

Holy Flatlay. Let me tell you, I put the pressure on for the one. I had collected so many tiny elements and it was all so good, I wanted to highlight it all. I really want to talk about the wax seals that were made for this flatlay. @StrictlyRita on instagram creates these for fun and after I found her on TikTok and quickly became obsessed, she created a cucumber and Lip wax seal just for this flat. Paired with a vintage stamp from The Post Mistress. Talk about details.

Of Course, it’s not a flatlay without an invitation and Lindsay of Itsy Bitsy. She absolutely nailed this concept and created the cutest make up pallet invite, with a removable applicator and all. I AM obsessed.

I did the flowers again this time around and just got everything from Trader Joes. I added in 2 special hand painted flowers from Haus of Stems which made the arrangements extra magical. Putting in the extra design makes the party even more memorable.

I mean, are you blown away yet? Renee came over and spent the day with us capturing every single moment. She is so talented and none of this would be remembered without her talent. HUGE THANK YOU MISS RENEE!
