Palm Springs or BUST {Ray Turns Three}

Our Sweet Baby Ray tuned THREE on Monday, so in true fashion we threw a super fun party for her over the weekend! I’ve always wanted to do something with beach balls, you can see my inspiration here, and this was the perfect opportunity!

I ran with the beach ball thing and added in a twist of Palm Springs to make it a little more up scale, and I LOVE the way it turned out!

The Install

It all started with the BALL and that is where my main installation came from. I wanted to make what I typically would with balloons out of beach balls. I got monochromatic balls from beachballs.com in all different sizes and colors and ran with it.

I made this the bar area outside, it had a little less traffic and really became a show stopper. I hung the Cabana Service sign by Modern Birch Co above it and it was the perfect spot for champagne and Palm Springs Punch (pink lemonade).

The Table

My husband built me an amazing table for the kids, I wanted something low to the ground so they could just sit on their beach towel and it turned out perfectly. I used solid Oh Happy Day plates and added fun, graphic napkins to capture the theme. The stripe cups from Daydream Society gave me all the cabana vibes and the colors were perfect. My favorite part was their acrylic name plates and the runner I made from cloth napkins.

The Food

I used our dining room table for food and cake. It’s so much easier to have it inside away from the elements. I wanted to do pool side food but elevated, because, palm spring.

Pool Side Menu

Goat Cheese and rosemary sliders

Truffle French Fries

Cilantro and Smoked Chardonnay Corn

Lime salted Watermelon

It was simple but SO SO good! Jenny from Design and Unwind KILLED it with a custom acrylic menu to match one of the napkins- it made it feel luxe and was the perfect detail.

We of course had the most beautiful custom cookies by Royally Iced really picking up on every detail.

For the decor I used Glam Fete fringe and hun Bright Lab Lights on top, it looked different and the colors were perfect. I leaned large Gray Malin prints, a photo of Ray in a flamingo and the most epic, working POOL BOY button against the wall. I loved the detail and it made it look even MORE Palm Springs.

The Cake

This was really fun. I recreated a cake my mom made for me on my second birthday, I remember it being my FAVORITE when I was a kid and it was SO much fun to make. I even had the original recipe she tore out of Women’s Day Magazine in 1991. Here are a couple snaps of the original.  I of course added a Fancy Free Finery topper, and TONS of other fun details and I am absolutely obsessed with how it tuned out. Look at those little peg doll swimmers, by Dixie and Bee. SO GOOD.

The Favors

I put A LOT of time into these, because all the cousins were coming to the party I wanted to make sure they had something great to go home with. I got each kid a Jelly Basket from Ellie and Piper and filled it with all the poolside goodies. Each kid got a towel, a beach ball cup, Tubby Todd lip balm, a beach ball pin, new sunnies, and a surprise ball filled with toys and candy. Each bag had a fun tag to add another little detail and a Whimsical Darlings Co Flag that read thanks for Diving In!

Each kid also got a custom sun hat that hung on an actual Pink Door, because it’s not palm springs without a pink door! We adorned the door with another Modern Birch Co sign- Fun in The Sun.
